Exercise, Motivation

Thanksgiving weekend left me feeling blah!

Don’t get me wrong, Thanksgiving dinner was great. Grandma made an amazing dinner, I made some cheesecake (but didn’t eat much!) and Did really well! In fact, when i weighed myself on Friday morning I was pleased to see a loss!

But, then Friday we headed up to Columbus to visit with friends for the evening and Saturday.
We went to a famous hot dog place and I did eat too much. I didn’t eat very good the rest of the weekend. I also didn’t exercise. It was terrible.

I’ve spent the earlier part of the week trying to get back into the mentality of portions and watching what I ate. I didn’t do so well at some point each day but last night I exercised for an hour while watching tv.

This morning’s breakfast is good and I feel positive. Some chai tea with splenda, a peach yogurt and a banana. I’m wearing my pedometer and plan to take a 30-40 min walk on my lunch today. If it’s too cold for outside I’ll walk the halls! And I’ll exercise tonight watching some tv again.

I’m going to hop on the scale tomorrow morning and see how I’ve done. I’ve got weight watchers on Saturday so we’ll see how that goes.

Either way, I’m going to weight watchers and I’m going to sit in my meeting and be conscious and continue visualizing a happier, healthier me!

Life & Me

It’s going to be a rough day.

Didn’t have a very good dinner and didn’t exercise. I was making polish cheesecake for tomorrow. I’ve also been tasked with watching the pies in the oven. Last one should be done shortly. I’m exhausted!

I’m going to do my best tomorrow and hopefully have enough time to go for a walk or 2.

In the spirit of thanksgiving. Here are my 10 things I am thankful for this year.

1. My family. I have an amazing family as well as in-law family. I am loved and appreciated and know I have people I can go to with anything. I am thankful for the wonderful family I have been blessed with.

2. My job. I enjoy my job, the people I work with and what I do. I love the work I do and learning every day I’m there. I’m thankful for the stability it has given me and promise to continue working hard every day.

3. My car. I know this may seem dumb to some people but I truly am thankful to have a wonderful working piece of machinery. It runs well, no problems, I give it love and oil changes and it works beautifully saving me any headaches. I love my car!

4. My best friend and her amazing daughter. Jessica and Joy are wonderful and I love them so much. I love spending time with both of them. Jessica is a wonderful friend, I couldn’t have asked for someone better to be my best friend here in Cincinnati. Joy makes me smile seeing how much she is growing and learning.

5. My animals. Granted only one cat is technically ours but the dogs and cats here make me so happy. I hope someday we can have a dog of our own.

6. My health. It could be better and I’m working on it but all in all I’m pretty healthy.

7. My parents. I know I’ve said my family but my parents despite their differences have raised me well. I am a confident, hard working, happy woman. I learned many lessons and learned how to be a wonderful woman, thanks to my Mom and Dad.

8. EJ’s Grandma. She’s helped us more than anyone. She’s given us a roof over our heads when we needed it, money when we were down, paid for nearly our entire Cincinnati reception and much much more. I can’t even begin to repay her.

9. My camera. It makes me happy and I love learning everything I can  about it, in hopes of it helping me have a career taking photos someday.

10. My husband. Last, but definately NOT the least. He is my world. No one will ever love me more than him. He makes me feel special, loved, cared for and more. He is always there when I need help. He is the greatest husband ever. I’m so lucky.

I challenge everyone to think of 10 things they’re thankful for this year!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Feeling good!

I’m back! Things are calmer and I want to keep on updating, and I’m back on track!
I feel really good and motivated and ready to keep on pushing.

Last night I went to the grocery store and picked up some lunch and breakfast things. A friend of mine who has recently lost a lot of weight (and looks phenomenal!) told me about a breakfast idea she did. I took it, added some things and made it my own!

I bought 2 containers of egg whites ($1.79 for 16 oz, kroger brand) and poured the serving size amount (1/4 cup) into a cupcake tin (that I had already sprayed with cooking spray so they won’t stick!). I added some green peppers, mushroom pieces, a bit of canadian bacon and a pinch of cheese, some salt and pepper and popped them in the oven for about 20 minuted at 300. They popped right out! I bought some 8 grain pita pockets to put the cooked egg white into and they’re great! 2 points for the pita pocket AND the egg whites! What a deal! And very filling.

This morning’s breakfast was the egg whites in a pita and some chai tea with soymilk. I’ve got a banana and an apple to help me out if I get hungry before lunch.

Lunch is tuna with tomatoes, lettuce and a pickle in a pita pocket (italian herb this time). Some yogurt with granola for later as well. I think I’m doing pretty well.
I think dinner will be baked potatoes with some sour cream and black bean and corn salsa for me and a side of broccoli and broccoli and cheese for the hubby!

I’ll exercise for 30 minutes while watching tv this evening and I hope to walk for 30 minutes on my lunch today as well.

I’m feeling really good and ready to get to my goal of 199 by Jan 1st.

30 by 30

30 by 30!

Well, since it’s been awhile, I thought I’d revisit my 30 by 30 list!

Here it is…

  1. Lose 30 pounds. I’m trying to lose weight to be healthy and this is becoming even more important than I could have ever imagined.
  2. I want to walk/jog a 5K, 10K and MAYBE a half marathon. I know I can do the 5K and 10K but would like to see my time and I’ve never done one before. I walked a 5k with everyone at work for Alzheimer’s!
  3. Get Married! Granted this is an easy one since it’s already planned, it’s still on my list.  Completed September 8, 2012!
  4. Go Camping. I can’t tell you the last time I went camping, but, I can tell you it wasn’t planned by me or EJ. We’ve never done this and I’ve been dying to do this.
  5. Swim with Dolphins. I’m hoping to accomplish this in Mexico… Completed September 10, 2012 in Mexico! it was awesome!
  6. Go to a Cincinnati Reds baseball game. I love going to baseball games and the Reds games are awesome.
  7. Get a new tattoo. I’ve been wanting a new tattoo for awhile.  I did! I got a lightning bolt on my foot!
  8. Learn more espanol! I think brushing up on my spanish would be fun!
  9. Take a writing class. I really need to brush up on some of my writing skills and grammar.
  10. Build up my savings account. I want to have a cushion. I want to be better with my money and feel more secure.
  11. Get a paying photography job. I am currently working on building up my photography portfolio. I am offering my services for free while I learn. I hope to get a paying gig sometime this year.Completed May 30, 2012
  12. This one is personal and that’s that. :P
  13. Get my diploma from Buffalo State. So, I’ve graduated and have a bachelor’s degree BUT I never got my diploma. I owe my college $30 for an old parking ticket in order to get the diploma. I just keep forgetting about it.
  14. Do something awesome for my Mom.
  15. Get a manicure (and maybe a pedicure.) Just never done it. Plus my feet are ticklish.
  16. New hairstyle. My hair stays the same for the most part. I’d like to try something new but nothing crazy.
  17. Visit Los Angeles. EJ has been dying to get me here for years and I want to visit too!
  18. Read a classic book. I’m talking tale of two cities, catcher in the rye, pride and prejudice type book.
  19. Go fishing. Think it would be fun.
  20. Enter a photography contest. Why not?
  21. MOVE! Whether it’s into our own place or we take a leap of faith and try something new in a new city. I want to move.
  22. Lower my car insurance by taking a class. I have a few tickets and I could use some lower car insurance so, I should take one of those defensive driving classes to help lower my rate.
  23. ZIP LINE. I’ve been dying to do this for a few years now.
  24. This one is also personal.
  25. Visit Austin, Texas. EJ and I are very curious about the city but I hear you can smoke inside and that’s stupid.
  26. Watch the sun rise. Mexico?  I didn’t sit on the beach for awhile watching it rise but I did get up early enough to see it very close to having just risen! It counts! haha
  27. Make exercise part of my every day life. I need to, it’s so important and I feel so much better when I do exercise.
  28. Have a wedding reception. We had 2! And they were great! A wonderful time with friends and family!
  29. Go hiking. I want to take a day in hocking hills and hike and enjoy the scenery.
  30. Take a cooking class with EJ. I think it would be fun and I know he’ll really enjoy it.

Well, There’s still plenty to do and some might not work out before 30 and that’s ok! I’ll have to talk about the other things I’ve done this year when the time comes!

In other news, I’m going to do some research on photography contests and try to enter one. And a cooking class would be fun!

Exercise, Life & Me, Motivation, On Plan, weight watchers

Back on the wagon.

So, weight loss isn’t the easiest thing. Remembering to track when life gets hectic is often times dismissed.

With the chaos of the wedding and the receptions I’ve gained some weight and haven’t been paying attention to everything that goes into my mouth. And, I haven’t been blogging or exercising daily.

Well, I’m back! I went to my weight watchers meeting on Saturday morning. I accepted the weight that was there and told myself it was ok because I was at my meeting. I was making a commitment to get back on track. I woke up early enough, I went, I stepped on the scale, I stayed for the meeting and I participated. I wrote down every single little thing that I ate all weekend. Granted, it’s not pretty. In 2 days I’ve managed to eat my daily points, plus my 49 weekly points and 17 more. That means I need to work my butt off this week. I need to track everything and stay within plan and I need to exercise a lot to make up for those points if I plan on losing any weight this week.

We went grocery shopping last night and I feel we stocked up on some good healthy choices. I just need to remember to measure out my dinners. I always seem to have trouble there. I also want to try and remember to eat more of the protein filled items at dinner. I’m so used to trying to balance my dinner out that I forget that I should eat a little more of the protein and less of the starch in order to fill fuller longer.

I’ve set some goals for this week and I’m going to try hard to stick to them. I think I might write them down on a sticky note and post it at my desk too.

Goals for the week of 11-3-12 through 11-9-12
1) Measure dinners so I know exactly how much I’m eating.
2) Drink a glass of water before dinner.
3) Exercise for 30 min during lunch and at least an hour in the evening.
4) Track everything.
5) Attempt to find a community to participate in on sparkpeople or weight watchers.

Wish me luck!
