See you later 2012, it was a fantastic year!

2012 was a very good year to me. I am very lucky to have had the chances to do some of the things I’ve done this year. Don’t get me wrong there have been plenty of downsides to things but the good win out this year.

2012 in review!

  • I won a wedding. Seriously, who wins a wedding? In Mexico! All inclusive! This girl and her, now, husband do. And it was fabulous in so many ways. I can’t wait to take a return visit.
  • 304589_925842911655_1536127025_nI swam with a dolphin! Mexico gave me some amazing memories! Swimming with a dolphin has been a DREAM of mine. It was awesome and I loved every minute of it and it was on my 30 things to do before I turn 30!267268_932445679655_1913666864_n
  • My husband and I had some amazing photos taken of us from a wonderful photographer here in the Cincinnati area. I was very sad that we didn’t get to use them for our wedding but was very happy to have had our engagement photos done by him.   • I have really begun to improve my photography skills and I am VERY excited about it. I still have a lot to learn but I feel I have gained a lot of experience this year! I’m hoping to continue learning and improving my skills even further in 2013.   • My husband and I are ready to get our own place again. After a couple years of struggling and living with family members we are in the process of looking for our own place. Nerve wrecking and exciting!
  • My husband’s Grandmother, who we live with, acquired this pup for $25 and he has since stolen all of our hearts. He he is with his hat and scarf that he hates. A lot. and another cute one of him.

  • I got to visit Chicago for the first time ever! That was amazing. I love it!

    I’m sure there’s more that I’ll have to continue with at a later time 🙂

On Plan

One lucky girl.

I am truly a lucky girl.

My husband took me to the mall yesterday because he said I needed to be with him when he got my Christmas gift. He walked me to the jewelry store and said “I want to buy you a wedding band for Christmas.”

We didn’t have the money for one for me when we got married so I’ve had a cheap ring (and the stones keep falling out) that I got on amazon for $25.

I was so excited. I didn’t even think I’d get a real wedding wing for several years. It means a lot to me and to him. I like the idea of our wedding bands connecting us every day.

Then we went to spend the evening with some friends and their parents who have always treated us like part of the family. We had a wonderful dinner and talked and had a great evening. It truly felt like Christmas. Ever since my parents got divorced and I’ve moved here Christmas hasn’t felt the same. This year has been nice though. Aside from not being able to see my family it’s been a great Christmas. I got my husband some nice things as well as the family. Nothing big but they’re still nice.

But most of all spending the time with our friends and family and seeing everyone is what made me so happy. My husband is a truly amazing man who loves more than I ever thought someone could love me. He makes me feel so loved and I’m truly lucky to have him.

I’m having a terrible time staying focused with my eye on that prize weight of 199 (first big goal)

I want nothing more than to reach my 10% goal weight of 199 in the next few months. So why do I keep sabotaging myself???

I lost 3.6 pounds not last week but the week before making me 210. Then, I weighed myself this morning and I weighed 214! WHAT! WHYYYY!

I know why, really. I can tell you why in fact. I haven’t exercised since last week, I haven’t been planning ahead, I haven’t been careful and I’ve gotten a lot of candy/chocolate and they were really good.

So, I know why and I suppose that’s the first step. And for the most part I have tracked everything and you can tell by my tracking that I’ve clearly done a terrible job at eating well this week.

The husband hasn’t really been watching either. I’m hoping for us to sit down tonight and go over some of the plan together and work on measuring everything we cook tonight so he can really see portion sizes as well as remind me of portions.

I also want to throw away any candy in the house. I had enough! I don’t need anymore! My desk at work is free of it except for some candy canes but they’re not appealing to me. They’re for visitors.

I know that a large part of my sabotaging is due to living with Grandma. She’ll make us dinner and she’s old school, southern cooking. Lots of butter, adds sugar to things that don’t need sugar (like spaghetti and chili) and doesn’t see the need to make things healthy..she focuses on taste.

Well, last night she made chili. It tasted GREAT but I didn’t need to top it with cheese and crackers and I definately could’ve had a smaller portion of the spaghetti noodles and had more chili which is more protein. But, I didn’t. WHY! I was in a good mood and it was there and yummy and, oh, I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.

Grandma made dinner because she thought it would be nice for us to not have to cook dinner after a full day at work. It is nice. I am SO thankful for her. And I can eat these things, I just need to figure out what is better and measure these out.

We’re looking at a place tonight that we hope might be the place we move to in the next month or so. I know that once we move out it’ll get a little easier.

As long as my husband can get on board even further with me it’ll be really easy. And, if he doesn’t that’s fine. I’ll figure it out.

I have to figure it out. I need to lose weight and become a healthier person. I have so much to do in life and I can’t be worried about my health as much!

I need some motivation but I am so not looking forward to going to my meeting this week and seeing the number on the scale jump back up.

My plan for tonight is to go home and take a look at the things in the kitchen. I’m going to make my lunch and get rid of any food in the house I don’t need/want and then work with EJ on things we can change together.

I KNOW I can do this but it’s going to take time and effort.


Healthy Vegebtable Soup!

Last night I tried my hand at making a vegetable soup that wouldn’t break my daily points!

Jenny Bomb’s Vegetable Soup Recipe

64 ounces Chicken broth. (I used the Kroger Private Selection Organic one)2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 package of no yolk egg noodles (or whichever noodles you prefer)
16 oz frozen cut green beans
16 oz frozen corn
2 packages of california medley veggies (carrots, cauliflower and broccoli)
16 oz broccoli cuts
2 cups carrots chopped
1 celery heart chopped
1 cup of onion

Put all veggies into a pot with the broth and soup. I added salt, pepper and garlic. I let it cook until the veggies were the right consistency and tasted. Add salt, pepper and garlic if needed. Then I added my noodles. I probably could’ve actually gone with less noodles but it did make it a very nice soup just extra chunky. I did add a little extra water at the end to make it a little less chunky.

I said it’s about 10 servings and it said it was 7 points plus – weight watchers points. Awesome. So, in reality it’ll probably be a little less because it made a LOT of soup.

I’m having some for lunch and dinner today haha. Whatever is left I’ll probably freeze.

A good weight loss last week!

Last week was really good! I was good all last weekend and week and on Saturday when I stepped on the scale at weight watchers I was pleased! I had lost 3.6lbs! I was so excited!
My husband and I talked on Friday and he said he wants to lose some weight so, on Saturday I bought the weight watchers calculator and headed to bed bath and beyond after my meeting and purchased a new scale for the house.

We’re working together on losing weight now and I’m really excited. He’s following along with the weight watchers plan with me now and I think we’ll both see even more success now.

I do need to stay on track today. I didn’t do so hot this weekend or yesterday. In fact, I’ve already used my weekly points up! So, I need to exercise every day and really track and watch everything I’m eating.

We tried a new recipe last night. It wasn’t the greatest but it wasn’t the worst. I probably wouldn’t make it again though. It was an Italian sausage soup. It had tomatoes, beans, sausage and spaghetti. I tossed in a couple cheese ravioli and Parmesan cheese. Like I said, ok, but not worth making again. Though I will say the Kroger organic whole wheat spaghetti is great. The best whole wheat pasta I’ve tried so far.

In other news we’re looking for a place to live and it’s a giant pain in the butt. Trying to find a place to live that’s got enough privacy for us and we’d like for my husband to be able to play his music and we have a cat. I’ll keep you posted on that.

In other other news I need to start working on my indoor photography skills and plan to be taking a lot of photos for free/cheap/donations in the next coming months. I’m hoping to plan something for next weekend with some friends to take some photos.  This weekend might be good. We’re going to Columbus to visit our friends for their sons first birthday.
